Villamartín

Desde las montañas de León a la campiña gaditana. Villamartín está cerca de la Sierra de Cádiz, en la ruta de los pueblos blancos. Sol, azulejos, blancas fachadas, ventanas enrejadas, nombres antiguos, cuestas, naranjos... lo mejor es pasear sin rumbo por sus calles y dejarse sorprender por sus rincones.

From the mountains in the north to the fields of Andalucía. Villamartín is on the White Villages Route in Cádiz. Sun, tiles, white houses, windows with ornamental bars, old names, hills, orange trees...it is nice to walk around and find beautiful corners.

London

Hemos pasado unos días en Londres, de visita en casa de mi hermana, disfrutando de la ciudad, de sus parques y del buen tiempo! ¡Qué calor!

We have spent some days in London, visiting my sister, enjoying the city, its parks and good weather, it was really hot!

Toledo

El sábado fuimos a Toledo, hacía un día espectacular después de varios días de mucho calor, daba gusto pasear por sus calles estrechas. Una ciudad que nunca me canso de visitar, siempre descubres algún sitio nuevo.

Last Saturday we visited Toledo. The weather was fantastic after some days of high temperatures. It was a pleasure to walk around the narrow streets. Love to visit this city, I always find something new.

Madrid II

Más fotos de Madrid, esta vez del barrio de las letras, llamado así porque durante el Siglo de Oro fue centro de una gran actividad literaria. En él vivían algunos de los escritores más importantes de esa época como Lope de Vega, Góngora o Quevedo, lugar de teatros y corrales de comedias, aquí se editó por primera vez el libro de Don Quijote de La Mancha y su autor, Miguel de Crevantes, fue enterrado también en este barrio, en el convento de San Ildefonso de las Trinitarias Descalzas, uno de los pocos edificios de ese siglo que se conservan en la actualidad.
Este barrio aún guarda el sabor del Madrid tradicional con sus calles estrechas, sus azulejos en las fachadas de las tiendas, sus fuentes, sus balcones con barandillas de forja, sus casas de ladrillo... es un placer pasear por sus calles.

These photos are from "el barrio de las letras", an active literary neighbourhood during the Spanish Golden Age, in the 16th/17th century. Some of the most important writers of that ages like Lope de Vega, Quevedo or Góngora lived here, the neigbourhood was full of theaters, here was published the first book of Don Quixote de La Mancha and his writer, Miguel de Cervantes was also buried in this neighbourhood, in The Convent of the Trinitarias Descalzas de San Ildefonso, one of the few buildings from that century you can see today.
In this neighbourhood you can still find the traditional Madrid with its narrow streets, tiles in the storefronts, fountains, brick buildings, iron railing balconies... it is a pleasure walk through its streets.

Amsterdam

Amsterdam es una ciudad que me gustó mucho la primera vez que la visité (hace casi 20 años!), pero ahora el centro está lleno de las mismas tiendas que puedes encontrar en cualquier otra ciudad europea, e incluso las tiendas de souvenirs son iguales! Me quedo con el Albert Cuyp Market, la mercería Boeken (Nieuwe Hoogstraat 31) en la que no pudimos entrar porque estaban grabando una película, la papelería Cortina Papier (Reestraat 22) donde tenían unos papeles preciosos, el Museo Van Gogh y el Hortus Botanicus, uno de los jardines botánicos más antiguos de Europa, muy pequeño pero precioso. Y para comer os recomiendo un italiano con buenos precios, para lo que hay por allí, y con comida muy rica, la Trattoria Fantasia (Marnixstraat 417, cerca de Leidseplein).

First time I visited Amsterdam (almost 20 years ago!) I felt in love with the city, but today it has lost some of the things that made it unique, in the center you can find the same shops and restaurants as in any other city. I liked Albert Cuyp Market, Boeken haberdashery (Nieuwe Hoogstraat 31), Cortina Papier (Reestraat 22) where you can find beautiful papers, Van Gogh Museum, Hortus Botanicus one of the oldest Botanic Gardens in Europe, and a nice and cheap italian restaurant, Trattoria Fantasia (Marnixstraat 417, near Leidseplein).
